Port Macquarie Steiner School

Child Centred Education

Our Integrated Curriculum

Big Thinking, Rich Feeling and Creative Will

Port Macquarie Steiner School offers a balanced and nurturing education for children from Kindergarten to Class Six, growing each year alongside our students. As a Steiner school on Birpai Country, we are guided by respect for nature, community and the unfolding potential within every child.

Learning at Port Macquarie Steiner School is creative and purposeful. Our regional school on the beautiful
Mid North Coast provides a holistic education
that engages the head, heart and hands.

Through imaginative, hands-on learning and a strong connection to nature, children develop curiosity, confidence and compassion — qualities that prepare them for a meaningful life.

We teach to the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF) that covers all key learning areas and is recognised by the
Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) as an alternate curriculum. This recognition means the ASCF educational outcomes are recognised as equivalent to those of the Australian Curriculum in all subjects.

Artistic Work to Deepen Learning

A love of learning for life

We nourish each child so they grow into capable, thoughtful individuals who take an active role in their own learning and their world. By recognising and supporting the many ways children learn  through words, numbers, movement, art and music we develop a genuine love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten has dedicated indoor and outdoor learning areas that have been specifically created for  children of this age. These are well loved and cared for by the Kindy children and their teachers.

The Kindergarten is appropriately separate from the primary classes (although the children love to visit these classes from time to time) and the true intent of this is to honour the children at this age as being within the kingdom of childhood. The Kindergarten classroom is named ‘Burray Ganya’ meaning Children’s Hut in Birpai language.

Primary School Class 1- 6

Our Primary composite classes are held in three thoughtfully designed classrooms, each lovingly shaped by our class teachers to inspire creativity and engagement.
During the Primary years, strong, lasting relationships are formed between teachers, children, and families.

The class teacher becomes an important role model, providing stability and guidance that supports each child’s growth. This continuity and connection from year to year helps strengthen the children’s confidence and resilience—benefits that can last well into adulthood.

New Campus On It's Way

A new place to flourish and grow for Port Macquarie Steiner School

We’re excited to share our journey towards our new ethically built campus on Birpai land at John Oxley Drive, Port Macquarie.

This beautiful four acre sanctuary fits perfectly with our purpose to nurture the whole child in harmony with nature and the community.

The move reflects our commitment to offering Steiner education to families in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region.
